Best Ways To Book Roman Reigns Vs. Rusev At WWE Clash Of Champions

Roman Reigns vs. Rusev at WWE Clash of Champions could be an important turning point in the careers of both men.
With each week that passes by, Rusev appears to be one step closer to finally joining the main event picture. Reigns, on the other hand, is in this weird position where WWE can’t seem to decide whether he’s going to be pushed back to the top of the card or be booked as a borderline main eventer because of his Wellness suspension.

Clash of Champions should provide fans with an idea of how Rusev and Reigns are currently viewed by WWE management. More specifically, this match will tell us whether or not Reigns will continue to be portrayed as the heir apparent to John Cena, or in other words, the face of the company.

That, of course, depends upon how the match is booked, who wins and how it goes down. So, let’s take a look at the possible finishes to Sunday’s Clash of Champions match between Reigns and Rusev, ranking them in order from worst to best.

4. Triple H Costs Reigns Again

Lost in all the drama surrounding Triple H costing Seth Rollins the Universal Championship a few weeks ago is the fact that he prevented Roman Reigns from winning the title, too.
The rivalry between Triple H and Reigns never really got a proper ending, with Triple H dropping the WWE Championship to Reigns at WrestleMania 32 earlier this year and then disappearing for several months. Thus, it’s certainly possible that we haven’t seen the last of Triple H vs. Reigns.

Are wrestling fans dying to see that? Probably not, but the idea that the feud between Triple H and Reigns ended abruptly at WrestleMania 32 without any concrete resolution doesn’t make a ton of sense.

Perhaps, though, Triple H’s surprising return on Raw was meant to reignite his rivalry with Reigns rather than kickoff his feud with Rollins. A logical way to keep Triple H vs. Reigns going would be to have Triple H once again cost Reigns a title match, this time helping Rusev retain the United States Championship at Clash of Champions.
While certainly not a situation most fans are clamoring for, it’s one that could happen, nonetheless.

3. Rusev Wins After Interference From Lana

Rusev is a heel while Reigns is still being booked as a babyface who’s difficult to defeat, so if Rusev is going to win, he’s most likely going to do that with some sort of outside interference.
WWE has done a great job of utilizing Maryse to assist The Miz in picking up victories on SmackDown, and that’s a philosophy that should translate over to Raw, where Lana frequently does the same for Rusev. At Clash of Champions, WWE may have itself a scenario where exactly this can happen.

Picture this: Rusev and Reigns battle back and forth, but Rusev is unable to put Reigns away, that is until Lana is able to do something that helps Rusev pick up the cheap victory. This would, of course, extend the feud but would also put more heat on Rusev, who is one of Raw’s top heels.

Generally speaking, however, the WWE doesn’t book its heels to cheat enough, and with The Miz being one of the few villains who thrives in that role, perhaps Rusev should be booked similarly as a fellow midcard champion.
